About the Artist
I have been creating art and writing stories since I could hold a crayon. Most of the subjects I enjoyed drawing as a child, I still enjoy painting: fairies, animals, flowers and trees. Since university, I have specialized in realistic fantasy portraiture and whimsical illustrations.
I earned a BFA in Painting and Graphic Design and continue to take art courses in figure studies, landscape painting, color theory and portraiture. My preferred mediums are watercolor or colored pencil; however, I am happy to work with you to create your custom work of art. My illustrated works are typically a combination of pen and ink plus watercolor.
Influences for my work are drawn from a wide range of sources. From Medieval literature, folk lore and fairy tales, Victorian illustrators and modern graphic design, I love to take in all types of visual references for future use.
When I'm not painting, I enjoy gardening, vegetarian cooking and animal advocacy work. My current long-term project is an illustrated children's book.
Once in a while, I still work in crayon.
